Taking the heat out of non-stop power
Secure and fully weather-proof, containers can accommodate electrical equipment where there is insufficient space in existing buildings This 4.4m x 3m x 3.1m module is divided into two rooms – separating the heatgenerating UPS equipment from the batteries/switchgear. The room containing the 200kVA static UPS system is forceventilated by two fans to extract the high heat dissipation from the UPS inverter. The battery/switchgear room is airconditioned to maintain a suitable operational temperature to help maximise battery autonomy and life.

One of the major challenges of packaging static UPS systems is how to deal with potentially high heat losses from the UPS inverter, whilst at the same time maintaining a stable temperature to ensure long life and reliability of the battery cells. Bradgate have the solutions. Where appropriate we can isolate the batteries in a separate room, and we can offer a combination of fan ventilation, air conditioning and a range of more complex solutions depending on the requirements of the application.

Containerised solutions are particularly appropriate when finding space to install the equipment in existing buildings when it is difficult to find space to install the equipment in existing buildings. Demand for UPS is increasing with the large number of call centres now being created, and these are often in existing buildings which have no provision for additional electrical installations. Bradgate containers are the obvious answer. In addition, pre-fabricated, ready-to-run solutions from Bradgate avoid disruption on site, and the modules’ security features prevent unauthorised access to the equipment.

The completely weather-proof construction, with bespokedesigned ventilation and air conditioning, ensures the right environment for the equipment’s long-term, reliable operation.

We have successfully installed UPS systems for a number of critical applications. These include a call centre for a hotel chain, military communications installations, and UPS support for an international broadcast company in Scotland.

Tough, all-weather model
This robust 9.7m x 3m x 3.1m high container is constructed with transport and on-site handling in mind. Thermally lined, it is an all-steel, fully welded ISO-style container, split into two rooms internally. One room contains two 300kVA static UPS panels and a switchboard (installed by Bradgate), mounted on plinths to provide bottom-entry cable access into the panels. Two fans extract the heat produced by the UPS inverters. In the second room, battery racks and wallmounted battery circuit breakers are air-conditioned to maintain the consistent temperature required for battery cell autonomy and life.
