Module construction and insulation
Modules are manufactured in both carbon steel and 316 stainless steel with insulation to meet A0, A30, A60, H60, H120 and Jet fire standards, and are certified in accordance with Lloyds and/or DNV (Det Norske Veritas) appraisal. Containers destined for permanent installation on an offshore rig can be fabricated in stainless steel to withstand the harsh conditions. Our own engineers undertake full design and structural calculations, and we also perform physical lift tests on our designs, using the jacking method.

Before certification, DNV conducts a design review, then monitors construction on the Bradgate site. DNV requires containers to be built of heavier material – with a suitable paint finish. If the design is a prototype, the whole building shell will be tested at DNV’s Yarmouth base to analyse factors such as twist, before the shell is returned to Bradgate for the acoustic lining to be fitted and other equipment installed. Modules may contain generators, fire pumps, switchgear and hydraulic units, along with the appropriate noise and air-conditioning equipment.

Our offshore containers are insulated with Rockwool Firebatt 2000 and Chartek 7. Bradgate is an approved applicator for the Chartek range on all in-house manufactured modules. We also design and manufacture modules to the exacting requirement of NORSOK specifications.
