Fitting it all together, expertly
This electrical installation for a site in Algeria is typical of our electrical projects. We receive and unpack all the customer’s freeissue equipment and install it in a module in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions. When all items are in place and bolted down, Bradgate supplies and installs internal interconnecting cabling to form a working, testable system prior to despatch. We build sections as large as possible within shipping constraints, but if they need to be split into two or three pieces, our engineers supervise the local workforce in bringing these big substations together. Substations are raised some 2m above grade, with landings and stairs. The skill is in setting up the understructure to be secure and level so that the module can be craned on, ready to ‘plug and play’.

Electrical projects expertly fitted, installed and commissioned

When a customer has approved our detailed design, Bradgate’s skilled workforce goes into action to build a high-quality module, finish-painted to the highest standard to suit any site environment.

Next, an experienced team of mechanical and electrical installation engineers takes over the installation of all internally mounted equipment, whether supplied by Bradgate or freeissued by the customer/end-user.

When the module is completely fitted out, we give the keys to the customer who invites the end-user to test the equipment. We provide temporary power supplies for the complete testing and commissioning of systems, including the customer’s final acceptance testing. The big advantage is that this all takes place before despatch, in the UK, so customers can be confident that the module can be put into operation very quickly when it arrives on site.

Electrical projects cover a vast range of requirements, including modules to house switchgear, transformers, complete substations, power generating plant, UPS equipment, railway signalling and other trackside applications. We have the technical capabilities and skills within Bradgate to deliver this full range of electrical projects. Here we show some examples of what we can do.

Power to carry 80,000 barrels a day
Bradgate supplied a control room plus ten HV and LV substations to upgrade the power and signalling of a 200km railway loop in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Oil has formerly been carried by pipeline to the Caspian Sea, but the upgrade makes it possible to use an existing rail system as part of a new bulk oil rail transfer system that runs continuously to transport 80,000 barrels a day. The 11 modules were largely transported by rail, so all equipment is packaged into a maximum container size of 22m x 3.5m x 5.5m.
